Different Types of Roaches in McAllen

  1. 1. American Cockroaches
Of the types of Roaches found in the Rio Grande Valley, American Cockroaches tend to be the most abundant.  These kind are a usually dark red and brown with fully developed wings, making short flights possible.  They are typically found inside homes or buildings where moisture has a place to accumulate.  Outside, they like to hide in around wood and hollow trees.  If your house has some nice landscaping around the perimeter with shrubs, flowers, and bushes, (which pretty much covers all of our homes) covered with mulch, this is where you will most likely find them thriving.  They love the moisture of those areas and can find food nearby.  Because of this, you need Pest control McAllen.
When they make their way into your home, they'll be looking for places close to pipes and in the walls where they find moisture.
Control For American Cockroaches:
There are certain sprays that work well against them.  In fact, one spray that Pest Control in McAllen uses almost guarantees that all roaches living within the home will be killed after the first use.  There are extra measures that must also be taken to prevent a future invasion.
Sealing and caulking areas where they may enter your McAllen home is very important.  It is impossible to kill all of the roaches on the outside.  To prevent new roaches from entering the house, a thorough sealing treatment is necessary.  Additionally you'll need to remove any piles of leaves or dirt around the home that accumulates moisture and  is an attractive environment for breeding.

2. German Cockroach
These pests are often mistaken for their cousins, the Asian cockroach.  They are the fastest re-producing cockroaches and are especially attracted to human food.  They are tan in color, mostly, and have 2 small defining lines going back from their head to wings.
German Roaches don't fly.  That doesn't stop them from spreading, however.  They are most likely to be found around your kitchen and food prep areas...at night.  They don't like the light.  So when the lights go out, they come out.  If you happen to catch them in the act of snacking on your food, as they run, they will probably emit an undesirable odor.  When you have a lot of them, they will smell pretty bad.
Again, there are sprays that will work well against them and be friendly to your family at the same time.  Spraying in the corners and any entry points into the back of cabinets, counters, and appliances is necessary to eliminate them.  If you live in an apartment and have had others spray before, but then found yourself with hungry roaches coming back, it is probably due to your neighbors.  Not that they like Cockroaches either, but if you eliminate them in one apartment, but the not the adjacent apartment, they will travel between buildings.  Pest Control McAllen TX understands this and will work to treat any connecting structures to your building.

3. Oriental Cockroaches
This type of roach lives in similar conditions as the American cockroach.  They are usually very dark in color, almost black.  They love the damp, cool places.  They will most likely prefer your basement or between the walls near pipes etc.
They usually look for food that is in the trash or decaying.  If you don't have a lid on your trash can or leave dirty dishes out for long periods of time, you will be sending out the invite for these critters.
Spraying for these guys in the walls and corners and then sealing the entrances from the outdoors is necessary in preventing them.  Of course removing any organic material such as leaves from the side of the house will also prevent them from spreading.  Lastly, drain traps should be kept full.
It is very important for a business to treat for these roaches as they will most likely cross contaminate areas with their preference to decaying matter.

If you have these, or any other types of Roaches, please call Pest Control McAllen to get an obligation free quote and see if we can't eliminate your problem for good.  956-247-4050
